Southern Style - Sunie & Rubi
April 12, 2014

Deleon Springs, FL. Sunie and Rubi are the epitome of DIY. From the parking signs to the napkins and every detail in between, their entire family chipped in to create an unforgettable southern vintage wedding. Their love for each other is contagious, and every moment of their wedding day was evident of that. Sunie grew up having sleepovers with her friends in the 'big red barn.' When Rubi proposed, she couldn't think of a better place to celebrate their wedding day with everyone they loved. Sunie's bracelet and necklace she wore were given to her by Rubi's mother. They were given to her by Rubi's father before he passed away...beautiful uncultured pearls. Given their eclectic style, an eclectic theme to match sent Sunie's mom on the search for the perfect details. Eight months went into the planning, and with the help of friends and family it all came together. Some things were borrowed from peoples sheds. Much of it was thrifted. Some of the items were cherished trinkets left behind by grandparents. And many things were handcrafted by the many artists in their lives. Not a thing was set in place without lots of thought, love and labor. Sunie chose sunflowers because even as a kid she adored sunflowers. After all, as she said, "My name is Sunie."
